Encryption Unlock Failed
What happened
The app encountered an error while decrypting the network data. Your encryption key is correct, but something went wrong during the unlock process.
Common causes
- Corrupted local cache
- App needs to be updated
- Device storage is full
- Rare cryptographic edge case
How to fix
- Try again — this often works on retry
- Force close and restart the Council app
- Check for app updates in the App Store / Play Store
- Clear app cache:
- iOS: Settings → Council → Clear Cache
- Android: Settings → Apps → Council → Clear Cache
- If nothing works, reinstall Council (your data syncs from the server)
Your data is safe
This error doesn't affect your messages or network membership. The issue is with the local unlock process, not your data.
