"I Don't Have This Key" Feature
If you're on the doorstep but don't have the encryption key, you can request it from the network owner securely.
How it works
- Tap "I don't have this key" on the doorstep screen
- Your request is end-to-end encrypted using Kyber post-quantum cryptography
- Only network owners and admins can read your request
- Council's servers cannot see your request content
What the owner sees
Network owners receive an encrypted notification with:
- Your nickname (if you provided one)
- Your Safety ID for verification
- The request timestamp
Post-quantum security
This feature uses ML-KEM-768 (Kyber), a NIST-approved post-quantum encryption standard. Even with a quantum computer, your request remains private.
After requesting
The network owner will need to share the encryption key with you through a secure channel. Once you have the key, return to the doorstep and enter it to unlock the network.
